Pictures of Nunavut landscapes, communities and wildlife will be considered.Pictures of people in Nunavut will also be considered, although photographers must have the people in their pictures read and consent to the Photo Release Forms, which state that the person agrees to have their image reproduced on the website and in NTI publications and materials.
Photographers can submit a maximum of three photographs each month.
Photographs that win Photo of the Month cannot be entered into the contest again. Photographs that do not win may be resubmitted. Photograph size requirements:
- Photographs must digital
- Photographs must be submitted in .tif or .jpg format
- Photographs must be at least 1 MB
- Photographs must be 3400 x 2200 at 300 dpi (pixel size)
- Photographs must be 8″ x 6″ at 300 dpi
If you do not know how to adjust these settings, please ensure that when you take photos, your camera is set to its maximum resolution and detail settings. Send image files exactly as they were transferred from your camera. Photographs that have been altered in any way will not be accepted. If you are asked by your computer if you want to compress your images before sending them by email, please select “no” or “keep the original sizes.” Photographers are entitled to submit a total of three new photographs each month.
Participants must read and consent to Photograph Release and Waiver Form before submitting photographs to the NTI Photo Contest.
The photographs may be downloaded from the website by outside parties.
NTI will contact you if your photograph is selected. Your name will be displayed on the picture that is used on the website. Every month, NTI’s Department of Communications will select a photograph. Winning entries for each month will be automatically entered into the Photo of the Year Contest.
This contest is open to Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement.
